Bio

Chris' star is rising fast. Winning TransWorld's Reader's Choice Award in 2005 and winner of the 411VM Competition in August 2006, Chris Haslam is definitely a man of the people. Chris lets his skating talk for itself. So far, people like what they hear. Haslam has to be one of the most technically-gifted and innovative skateboarders of his generation.

Quote:

"There's always going to be the guys who are smooth and the guys that go down the biggest stuff, and that's rad, but how much sicker is it to watch a video and see something you've never seen before? That just gets everybody psyched. I like watching people use their feet; I want to see board control, how far they can push it just by using their feet, not so much how many stairs they can go down or how big a rail they can slide down. I try to do that. That's the kind of stuff I want to see, so that's the kind of stuff I try to show."

Other Stuff

What's your current "set up"?

My Round three board with Coops Hunter guy on there and my Sasquatch, think thats 7 3/4 or something like that. It's one of the resin eight boards. Raw Tensor Lo's. Momentum's Beibel 50 mm wheels. And the Tensor Oust abec 9 bearings. YAY!

If you weren't so good at skateboarding, what would you be or be doing?

Probably be bored at school studying courses that I would have chosen just because I didn't know what else to take. Probably art stuff or maybe video stuff. It's too bad I suck at both.

If you could pick one sponsor you don't have, who/what would it be?

Probably a cell phone company. I have a terrible service with my phone right now—costs way too much.

Who is the best & worst person to skate with & why?

Let's say best and worst people: Worst people are the stress cases. I stress sometimes but not throw the board or hammer the side of it or anything like that...those people bum the session out. The best people to skate with I find are those that are innovative and like skating everything transition, ledges&ahellip;everything.

Who was your first skate hero?

As far as I can remember it was either Laban, Jamie Thomas or Ed Templeton.

What's the recipe for a great skate session?

Very little stressing, low bust factors, good setup, friends.

If you could live any movie as reality, which one would it be?

Sin City... pretty much the sweetest thing I have ever seen.
