So, some of you have been bummed on not getting your GI info flowed via the forums.  Don't know when it hits exactly, subscribers might be leafing through the mag as you read this.  But, I did get word that the words I sent concerning the naming of our new city didn't get printed verbatim.  So, here's what I sent...and here's a pic to accompany:

One of the key ingredients to Skate's success was its home - the fictional city of San Vanelona.  Skate 3 found us skating in a new city, but one in need of a name.  It was a daunting task trying to come up with a name that possessed the soul and charisma that San Van came to be known for.  We threw a ton of names at many walls, but none stuck.   However, when Canadian skateboarding legend, Don "Mad Carver" Hartley passed this summer, a name suddenly stuck.  Carver Don was a true OG skate rat, a friend to quite a few on the team, and someone we mo-capped a while ago to capture the essence of style.  Don's passing saw the birth of a new city...welcome to Port Carverton...a city with soul and one born to RIP.

Bonus crypto nug...wonder where that bowl he's shredding is?  Is it in Port Carverton?  Hmmm...it should be.

A tip of the hat to BlazNhero for not only surviving, but actually thriving, in a heckle sesh with a guest appearance by a Demzilla Monster that had been tipping some cups.  The Blazer ruled all things transitional with style and panache...

This is not shameless hucksterteering...this is sincere kudos for a game that has grabbed me by the testicular region and made me laugh heartily...Brutal Legend is wicked!!!  Having just seen Motorhead at a recent Vancouver show, I was beyond psyched when Lemmy made an appearance in the game.  Now, multiply that psychedness exponentially when I got to ride shotgun on the back of his gnarly, metal hog during a mission to round up pigs for a vixen slaughter.  Buy the game.  It is very metal.

Crazy how using first names...or real names...has become the online equivalent of your mom admonishing you by dropping the dreaded full name...when I heard, "William Christopher Parry", I dookied my drawers...

And...I'd be remiss not to mention Ron's exclusive interview with one of Skate's hairball arty dudes, Clint J.  Please check his interview as he drops behind the scenes info on the meaning of interface and a secret project he's apparently working on.  And...if you ever get to Skate online with Clint, ask him to pull out his patented Meredith Baxter Birney trick.  You won't regret it.  The clip should be up anytime soon...Berrics time.  (Hope Steve doesn't sue)
